More is less

I’ve been into EDC (everyday carry) for a while. I always find some new handy stuff or tools that make me feel ready for any situation. I’ve collected so many weird things that my friends think I’m losing my mind.

I tried many things to build the perfect EDC and wasted too much money. At some point, my EDC ended up being just a Victorinox Rambler and a Rovyvon keychain light.

I realized I was over-carrying the whole time. Now I think carrying a knife isn’t necessary, the phone can replace a pen and notebook, titanium is overpriced, pry bars make no sense, and camo bags in the city look stupid. A lot of things labeled as EDC nowadays are designed to separate fools like us from our money.

Like someone said, it’s everyday carry, not just-in-case carry. You don’t need to carry two knives plus a multitool unless your job actually requires those tools.

Another thing is productivity apps, habit trackers, journals, energy management tools, focus apps… I focused too much on productivity apps. They were supposed to save me time, but they ended up wasting my time instead.

And here’s an article on Bearblog that says exactly what I want to say. A great read.

stop wasting time on productivity crap. just shut up and work

All I want is to make my life simpler. I’m cutting off the crap. Less is more
